BioAdvantage is a boutique consultancy company established in 2007 by Margot Rothwell and is based in Sydney Australia.It provides business analysis and project management services to companies developing or launching new therapeutics or diagnostics.
BioAdvantage specialises in understanding the value of the commercial opportunity for early stage technologies, especially pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and nutraceuticals. Robust analysis underpins decisions on the optimal commercialisation path and use of resources, and provides commercial validation for investment.
BioAdvantage also works with large pharmaceutical companies to identify and validate new product opportunities for companies wishing to rapidly expand their portfolio. Business planning and project management are also offered to support and expedite the launch of high priority products.
Margot Rothwell set up BioAvantage Pty Ltd in 2007. Margot has over 25 years experience in technology commercialisation, and in new business development and marketing for pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals medical devices and diagnostics.
Margot holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Otago University and a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction) from Victoria University, New Zealand.
Margot has considerable expertise in strategic analysis and business development in a wide range of environments in Australia and New Zealand. She has provided strategic recommendations that have been used to underpin business development for numerous new healthcare products and services. She has also led the launch of several new pharmaceuticals including a speciality hospital pharmaceutical, several pharmaceuticals prescribed mainly in general practice, and products sold over the counter in pharmacy.
Consulting clients have included several leading pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies and investors, universities, healthcare industry associations and a major tertiary hospital.
Commercial management roles have included Commercialisation Group Manager for an institute engaged in R&D for a wide range of medical and industrial technologies, as well as Product Manager, Marketing Manager, and Business Development Manager roles in human healthcare companies.
Earlier in her career, she managed clinical trials for new pharmaceuticals including cardiovascular drugs, anti-cancers and a novel anaesthetic. Before that she worked as a Hospital Pharmacist, gaining experience in drug product manufacture including the preparation of cytotoxic drugs.
